MET museum offers 34 3d-printable sculpture models

The Metropolitan Museum of New York just made a big move. Always keen on democratizing art culture, notably thanks to new technologies, the MET recently spotted the opportunities given by 3D printers. Already convinced that no representation of an artwork could replace the original, whether in picture, or in video, or even now in 3D printing, the MET just released for free 34 models of sculptures from its collections, printable in 3D (http://www.thingiverse.com/met/things) on the main community website dedicated to 3D models share.

A move which stands for a tipping point in the museums world and the debate about free open source share of 3D printable models.
