For the Charles de Gaulle Airport passengers, Digitalarti set up an immersive and interactive artwork on the 3 walls of the new international terminal boarding space (CDG, terminal 2E, gate M23), thanks to a proposal of Aéroports de Paris.
Created by Miguel Chevalier (see his profile) with a software based on Music2eye and set up byMuchomedia, Sur-Natures is a virtual garden made up with fifteen stringy and luminescent plants which are born randomly, grow up and die according to their "morphologenetic code". On the walls, the garden grows up everyday in real time and react to passengers.
From July to october 2012, thousands of passengers a day got surprised and played with these giant flowers. Following this first successful operation, Aéroports de Paris is looking forward to offering a second digital art experience to people from all over the world.
Since 1978, Miguel Chevalier (born in Mexico, 1959) has been using computer science as a mean of expression in fine arts. He is internationally known as a pioneer in visual and digital arts. He displays his work in exhibitions in museums, art centres and galleries all around the world.
