Ars Electronica installations

As every year, the visitor is provided with a large selection of installations. A few examples:

- Mobility from Otto Bock

100 handheld mirors are moving. The 100 lights reflected from the mirrors dance on the opposite wall to build at the end a Chinese character.

- The particle
This large sculpure of moving LED circles creating light spheres and sound, reflect the beginning of life on earth, a mixture of chaos and order.

- Torus treadmill
Ok, it does not seem much, looking at me holding this rail in front of a projection but it is quite amazing: you walk on a 2 dimensional treadmill connected in real time to the video. This means that you can walk forward, backward, in any, yes any!, direction, left, right, etc. You walk inn the city displayed discovering it, naturally. Like a computer game but not with the mouse, with your own feet, thanks to this complicated 2 dimension tradmill.

- Astronomical bodies
Part of the Symmetries exhibition at the Brucknerhaus, astronomical bodies proposes to extract phosphoruous from human liver to laucnh it in space to nurture the evolution of life on other planets.
Most of the works of this Symmetries exhibition border more on technology than art,

- Continuization loop
Beautifull and fascinating installation build with a 35mm film loop consisting of only black and transparent frames mixing materiality of film, movement, video signal and the binary logic of digital.

- sound installations and concerts
2 major installation are sound only installations and quite efficient. One, Linz R2, with just 2 blue cubes bellow the huge space of the Lentos musuem interprets the surrounding sounds in real time. The other at the entrance of the Brucknerhaus brings you in the middle of a fire. Excellent idea because, fortunately,  we never get a chance to live a firefighters life. Could have been more efficient somewhat louder but then not well suited for a museum entrance, more to a dedicated space inside.

Every evening, concerts took place on the main deck of the Ars Electronica center, as already mentioned in my previous post.

Friday night, after the gala evening, a beautifull concert – experimental space and architecture took place inside the St Mary's Cathedral, Austrian margest chruch. The title: 100.000 m3 of moving air.
