European Media Art Festival Osnabrück
Festival 18.-22. April 2012
Exhibition 18 April - 28 May 2012
Revolve
Motion is the central motif of this year’s international group exhibition of EMAF. Gates either allow access or block the way for visitors, cars absurdly drive round in circles, robots sporting protest signs occupy the room and youths jump to capture a graveyard.
The motion of crowds is investigated, identities are displaced via facial recognition, a field with motorised panes emulates the flowing beauty of large flocks, loo rolls perform a baroque ballet and the power of the falling sound throws a whole pond into turmoil. Sound walks invite visitors to explore urban spaces, and apps on the mobile phone are transformed into composition tools.
The exhibition sounds out the state of international Media Art with a vast array of contemporary positions, with cinematic video installations, sound projects, interactive systems, moving machines, kinetic objects, light installations, art apps, quiet spots and sound walks.
About 25 works will be shown in the art gallery Domenican Church.
