In collaboration with a network of museums and visual arts institutions both national and international, The Chelsea Art Museum seeks to present important, but relatively unexplored dimensions of 20th and 21st Century art, particularly focusing on artists that have been less exposed in the United States than in their home countries.
The Leaders in Software and Art Salon will consist of fourshort presentations by artists who incorporate media and technology into theirwork, including multi-media installations, performances, digital imaging, andnew media. There will be a short reception at 6 pm, followed by an hour ofpresentations at 7 pm. A laser light and fog installation which mingles the spatial clarity and structure of minimalism with the ephemeral, virtual qualities of new media and technology.This installation both underlines and questions the meaning of space and perception by playing with the physics of light and spacial geometry, creating ever-evolving colored structures as the visitor shifts in his or her viewing angle. The Poetics of Code is an exhibition of artwork by two pioneer contemporary artists – HD Traffic (2009) by John F. Simon, Jr. and Lagoglyphs (2009) by Eduardo Kac.
