Closing performance Angie Eng’s Liminal- a Multimedia Concert Sun, Oct 9th, 2011 at 8pm Roulette www.roulette.org 509 Atlantic Ave at 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, 11217 (917) 267-0363 The New York Electronic Art Festival closes October 9th at Roulette with Liminal, a multimedia concert that revives the cinepoem by combining traditional and contemporary electronic instruments directed by multimedia artist, Angie Eng. Joining her are: video artist and long time supporter of experimental video and music, Nancy Meli Walker, percussionist and electronics, Satoshi Takeishi, cellist and electronics, Audrey Chen and pianist, Shoko Nagai. Liminal is a series of live video/music pieces based upon the liminal phase of rituals. Symbols borrowed from Kabbalah magic, cult horror films, as well as footage she shot while spending time with primitive tribes are weaved into her moving images. Following is a performance, EIGENSPACE by Mari Kimuara for Augmented Violin and Interactive Graphics (Tomoyuki Kato) Eng will introduce her new instrument the VideoBass invented by swiss engineer/artist Michael Egger. The VideoBass is an unique hardware/software-combination for controlling live-visuals. An artist talk with the director and VideoBass inventor will take place the following day at Harvestworks, October 10th at 7pm. Liminal is made with the support of: Experimental TV Center Finishing Funds, mediaThe foundation inc., Anyma and the Mac Dowell Colony for the Arts, Foundation for Contemporary Arts About the festival Harvestworks’ New York Electronic Art Festival presents innovative work made with the most advanced technology that is rapidly altering the conditions of our lives. The festival will focus on the way that technology can alter, expand and exhilarate our perceptions through the creative energies of the artist. About Roulette Roulette is a major New York City venue for contemporary music and intermedia art, internationally recognized for the presentation and promotion of experimental contemporary music, an incubator for young talent and a laboratory where new ideas and new technologies are examined, appraised and developed. It is also an artists’ resource center, offering cheap rehearsal space, high quality recording facilities, information and commissions. They recently relocated to Brooklyn with their grand opening in September 2011.
