Reynald Drouhin I.P.C.
Reynald Drouhin I.P.C. Work: digital print International artists’ unique artworks and limited series "I.P.C. is becoming the most literal illustration of Marshall Mc Luhan’s global village." Internet users around the world are living in this cyberterritory without even knowing it. " Each connection is converted into a monochrome Tower bringing to mind the islets of great megalopolises and their economic power. The sole human evocation in the ghostly city is the spectrum of the visiting internet user. A cloud is high above the city, unexpected and floating like a residual smoke, a remembrance or the omen of a potential threat. This work offers a snapshot of the "ideal city" in perpetual growth. At a given date and time internet users coexist, without really knowing what building is theirs. I.P.C. (Internet Protocol City) is a megalopolis generated by the IP addresses of Internet users around the world when they are connected to the IP Monochrome site. Reynald Drouhin works have been exhibited in France, Europe and the United States:
Born in 1969, Reynald Drouhin currently lives and works in Paris. He is the president of the incident.net collective and teaches multimedia at Rennes Art School. His artistic practice incorporates digital tools, photography, video, installation and sculpture. He does not only operate in a dedicated space (the Internet, a projection plane or the large space of a gallery) but consecutively apprehends different possibilities, thus attempting to reveal what is beyond the visible, just like a ghostly, strange, parallel space, sometimes resulting from coded data.
