Tom Fuerstner: Innovation Design in Software Development

In the first of the series of lectures in Ljubljana
Mr.Fuerstner will present colour analysis of digital visuals in the context of
textual relations and fashion trends, as analyzed and interpreted via advanced
algorithms applied to information collected from the World Wide Web.
He will demonstrate the tools in use (non-mainstream
software like Max/MSP, Quartz Composer, Field) and programming
techniques in a broader cultural, political and artistic perspective.
These days Tom Fuerstner (Vienna - Berlin) is the Art
Director of bwin.party, the world's largest listed online gaming company.
His was teaching at University of Applied Arts, Vienna as
Univ. Prof.
for Digital Art and many years at the ZKM ( Zentrum fuer
Kunst und Medientechnologie ) as a creative director. He started his research
work as developer of programming tools and media systems (Oracle, N-Cube,
Apple's Pippin and set-top boxes), as well as building testing environments and
solutions for BBC and ORF - online, among others. He worked as director of
research and development for the companies like Swarovski, Burda Digital, BMW,
and own company System One.

During the period of a month long residency in Ljubljana,
Tom Fuerstner is designing high level presentation software for his appearance
at performance symposia Coding the Society, which will take place on June 7 -
8 (venue and more about the event soon to be announced). The event is
being prepared in processual fashion in co-production of Egon March Institute
and Kapelica Gallery, and kind collaboration of Cyberpipe.
