Tribeca Film Festival #10

The 10th Tribeca Film Festival takes place from April 20 to May 1 in New York and includes 88 feature-length and 61 short films, from 32 different countries, including 43 world premieres.

The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff following the attacks on the World Trade Center to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of the lower Manhattan district through an annual celebration of film, music and culture.
Tribeca is well known for being a diverse international film festival that supports emerging and established directors. In the narrative section we'll see this year, among others, director Tony Kaye's (American History X) latest film, Detachment, having its world premiere at the festival, and starring Adrien Brody, Lucy Liu and James Caan. Kicking off this year's competition is a free outdoor screening of the Elton John documentary, The Union, directed by Cameron Crowe.

This year edition will also see the launch of the Tribeca (Online) Film Festival, offering a chance for film enthusiasts from all over the world to experience the festival by utilizing the latest digital video and web technology and featuring five areas: Festival Streaming Room, Live From…, Tribeca Q&A, Filmmaker Feed, and the Future of Film blog.
