As a curator, my goal is to merge political, social and artistic issues around the question of games, which is eminently symbolic and political... and to promote alternative and artistic uses of video games, I’ve organized a number of 8bit music and chip tunes concerts, produced on Gameboys; and, for almost 5 years, I’ve been showing films
designed with video games, still called Machinimas. The point is to prove that it is possible to transform an object of mass consumption into a means of expression.

Book Sprint project : Collaborative Futures!

Last sunday, Stephen Kovatz posted on Facebook an information about Collaborative Futures, a book written in five days (Jan 18-22, 2010) by seven persons : Mushon Zer-Aviv, Michael Mandiberg,
Mike Linksvayer, Marta Peirano, Alan Toner, Aleksandar Erkalovic
(programmer) and Adam Hyde (facilitator).

This book was writtenduring a Book
Sprint in Berlin.

Collaborative Futures

A Book Sprint is a concept of Tomas Krag, then followed by Adam Hyde,
the founder of Floss Manuals. ( Free manuals fro free softwares) With this process, 16 books
have
been produced in one year.

The main difference this time is that people who didn't know eachother before, met and collaborated over 5 days to produce a very interesting book about collaboration : why we do collaborate, what are the motivations, what is the political undermeaning, economic consequences...

The event is part of the 2010 transmediale festival.
It will be printed on demand and distributed at the
festival.

The book can be read here
