/ Who are you? Can you tell us in a few words what you have been doing these last few years?
Above all I’m a programmer and an engineer, having become an artist only of late. As a teenager in the 70’s, I taught myself how to program. As a student, I studied science in great depth, which led to me graduating as an engineer from Telecom Paris, and I put that training to use in the R&D departments of a number of different companies, including Act Informatique (Act Computer Science) in P...

Michaël Borras a.k.a Systaime… a regular by-product of digital culture, the kind that re-shuffles our identity cards and our relationship to the world. A network trouble maker, a videographer, born in 1973. I remix the flows, lacerating the powerful and the imposters, highlighting our media independence all the while.

Locustream Promenade is a sound art installation by Locus Sonus composed of sonic beams (10 parabolic dishes equiped with sound speakers and small computers). The parabolas are suspended in the public space in such a way that a visitor only hears the sound from the beam when he or she is directly underneath it. Each beam plays a different stream from the Locustream project. The live streamed sounds are soundscapes coming from remote locations through the Internet. The space where the paraboles a...

you have been doing these last few years?
It’s difficult to predict what Internet will become. Most of the predictions have proven false, perhaps because the time frame they’re based on have been rendered obsolete by the net.
On the other hand we can think of the Internet not as a technology which is made up of a set of tools and defined by its performance, but a paradigm that ha...
t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s,c.a.p.e, Chambre(s) d’Hôtel @ Nuit Blanche in Brussels, october 2nd A hotel room and the strange people who live there … a boxer, a callgirl and a cleaning lady live there, under your very eyes. Five cameras capture, select and rebroadcast some of the things they do as sequences in a documentary fiction, while, at the same time, the audience follow the dancers directly through the dormer windows of the room. Between interviews, witness statements, sequences, cinematography a...

In October 1987 Stéphan Barron rode the Orient Express from Paris to Budapest and every hour took a Polaroid of what he saw.
In Budapest the 25 Polaroids of that one-way trip were scanned and sent to Paris by modem.
The same process was used from Budapest to Paris and the 25 digitalised Polaroids of the return trip were sent from Paris to Budapest.
